By MSG.com Here are some of the biggest trades the Islanders have been involved with chronologically throughout franchise history: January 6-7, 1975 - In two seperate deals, the Islanders get veterans J.P. Parise (from Minnesota for Ernie Hicke and Doug Rombough) and Jude Drouin (also from Minnesota for Craig Cameron). January 10, 1978 - Wayne Merrick is acquired along with Darcy Regier from the Cleveland Barons for J.P. Parise and Jean Potvin. March 10, 1980 - The Islanders deal Billy Harris and Dave Lewis to the Los Angeles Kings for center Butch Goring. May 21, 1981 - Bob Lorimer and Dave Cameron are dealt to the Colorado Rockies for their first-round draft pick in 1983, which is used to select Pat LaFontaine. March 11, 1986 - LW John Tonelli is dispatched to the Calgary Flames for Rich Kromm and Steve Konroyd. February 22, 1989 - Goalie Kelly Hrudey is sent to the Los Angeles Kings for G Mark Fitzpatrick, D Doug Crossman, and D Wayne McBean. November 29, 1989 - Ken Baumgartner and Hubie McDonough come over from the Los Angeles Kings for Mikko Makela. November 13, 1990 - Center Ray Ferraro is obtained from the Hartford Whalers for Doug Crossman. January 23, 1996 - In a three-team deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators, the Islanders acquire Bryan Berard, Martin Straka and Ken Belanger for Kirk Muller and Wade Redden. March 13, 1996 - The Islanders get Kenny Jonsson, Darby Hendrickson, Sean Haggerty and the Toronto Maple Leafs' first pick in the 1997 Draft (used to select Roberto Luongo) for Wendel Clark, Mathieu Schneider and D.J. Smith. February 6, 1998 - Trevor Linden is acquired from the Vancouver Canucks in a swap for captain Bryan McCabe and Todd Bertuzzi. June 20, 1999 - Ziggy Palffy, Bryan Smolinski and Marcel Cousineau are sent to the Los Angeles Kings for Olli Jokinen, Mathieu Biron, Josh Green and the Kings' first round draft pick in 1999 (Taylor Pyatt). December 19, 1999 - Dave Scatchard, Bill Muckalt and Kevin Weekes come over from the Vancouver Canucks for G Felix Potvin, a 2000 second round draft choice and a conditional pick. June 24, 2000 - On Draft Day, Mike Milbury sends goalie Roberto Luongo and C Olli Jokinen to the Florida Panthers for RW Mark Parrish and C/LW Oleg Kvasha, then selects Rick DiPietro with the first overall pick in the draft; also, G Kevin Weekes is sent to the Tampa Bay Lightning with Kristian Kudroc and a second rounder in the 2001 draft for the fifth overall pick in the 2000 draft (Raffi Torres), a fourth rounder and seventh rounder; also, Eric Brewer, Josh Green and a second rounder in the 2000 draft are dealt to the Edmonton Oilers for Roman Hamrlik. June 24, 2001 - Michael Peca is obtained from the Buffalo Sabres for Tim Connolly and Taylor Pyatt. March 11, 2003 - Chris Osgood traded to the St. Louis Blues for Justin Papineau and a 2003 second round pick; Janne Niinimaa acquired from Edmonton with a second round draft pick for Brad Isbister and Raffi Torres.
