After freeing up some much needed salary cap space, by placing Alexander Mogilny on the long-term injury exception list and trading Vladimir Malakhov, New Jersey was able to sign 2005-06 breakout star Brian Gionta to a three-year deal. The Devs also inked Paul Martin and David Hale, along with two others.
